On Sunday, the sun came out so I walked into the orchard.
The ground was so saturated that it gurgled under my feet.
In the orchard, deep among the apple and plum trees, little bits of new green started cracking through the stained branches--wet moss and barky browns.
Finally!
The first signs that the too long winter was coming to an end. After months of record setting rains, snow and fear of another drowned month, these little edges of green appeared. I've never been so thankful for the inevitable. Soon enough all of the trees will be full with sun and leaves and sweet fruit.
Halleluiah!
